Locked Microsoft is accidentally giving away Windows 8 Pro for free to pirates

We are certain that Microsoft implemented new and creative counter measures with Windows 8 to keep pirates away from the platform. Unfortunately, Microsoft overlooked a very simple technique that is allowing anyone with a pirated copy of Windows 8 to obtain a legitimate license, for free.

 

Here’s the deal, when installing Windows 8 Pro with any key, it does not matter where you obtained this key, as long as it is valid and will authenticates at least once using a specified KMS (key management system) sever. Once you are able to login to Windows 8, you then need to “upgrade” your copy by downloading the free Media Center Add-on.

 

The free upgrade does end on 1/31/2013 but after that date, the upgrade cost is only ~$15 depending on your location.

 

When you add the Media Center pack, this will assign you a new Windows 8 key that is legal (although the means of obtaining it may be illegal) and voila, you have successfully bypassed Microsoft’s security measures.

 

Microsoft will likely find a fix for this bypass in the near future and we certainly don’t condone piracy (we left out a few steps in our description) but at the end of the day, this is a very simple way to obtain a license for free.
