WC Cracker is a very fast cracking tool for MD5 / SHA1 / SHA256 / SHA512 hashes. This tool is coded in python and it can try over 70 combinations per second (how cool is that?).

 

What is MD5 ?

 

If there is anyone who hasn't heard of MD5, here is a brief explanation from Wikipedia.

MD5 is a widely used cryptographic hash function that produces a 128 bit (16 byte) hash file.It was designed by Ron Rivest in 1991 to replace an earlier hash function MD4. A MD5 hash value is typically expressed as a hexadecimal number, 32 digits long.

 

What are SHA1 and SHA2 (SHA256/SHA512)?

 

SHA-1: A 160-bit hash function which resembles the earlier MD5 algorithm. This was designed by the National Security Agency (NSA) to be part of the Digital Signature Algorithm. Cryptographic weaknesses were discovered in SHA-1, and the standard was no longer approved for most cryptographic uses after 2010.

 

A family of two similar hash functions, with different block sizes, known as SHA-256 and SHA-512. They differ in the word size; SHA-256 uses 32-bit words where SHA-512 uses 64-bit words. There are also truncated versions of each standardized, known as SHA-224 and SHA-384. These were also designed by the NSA.

 

About the tool.

This tool as i mentioned above is coded in python. It is a very lightweight tool and it doesn't affect your system performance at all. It's size is only 2.5 MB (megabytes). It is available for Windows free to download. I have made it to be simple to use so the only thing you have to do is open the tool, paste the hash , enter the wordlist name and wait for the hash to be cracked. If the process is succesfull the cracked hashes will be saved in found.txt.
